OnStyle 3.3 Update – Great Changes And New Features
NEW ONSTYLE UPDATE 3.3: ACCELERATING MEDICAL WRITING

OnStyle’s latest version has finally arrived! From its humble beginnings, this tool has grown into the well-known and beloved assistant it is today. Always adapting to meet a wide variety of user needs, it evolves and updates frequently. The new OnStyle 3.3 marks a significant leap forward, introducing numerous improvements and exciting new features that make it more powerful and user-friendly. Let’s dive into what’s new in OnStyle 3.3.
Framework Changes in OnStyle 3.3

- Progress Dialog
The progress dialog has been updated with a new look and the ability to display more information. The progress dialog appears when OnStyle is working on tasks that take longer than one second to carry out. Instead of one, the dialog now has two progress bars: one for the main task and one for the sub-task (if the process has sub-tasks). The color scheme is now uniform blue on the dialog border, the progress bars and the buttons. The location for the buttons have also been changed. Now, the Stop and Cancel buttons reside in the bottom right corner.
- Disable Track Changes
It’s now available to have OnStyle disable track changes in the document automatically before assigning a DocConfig. The DocConfig assigning process makes modifications to the document. If this setting is turned on, it prevents the process from adding a large number of Track Changes items to the document by turning off the Track Changes function of Word automatically. This feature is accessible in the Preferences menu.

New or Enhanced Authoring Features in OnStyle 3.3
- Customizable Anonymized Document Export function
The Export Anonymized Document function is expanded with the ability to customize the default anonymous username in the Preferences menu. The chosen username will be used in comments, track changes, and properties in the anonymized documents. Previously, the default username was not specifiable by the user.
Usernames that should not be anonymized can be set in the Comment Not Anonymized and Track Change Not Anonymized menus in the Preferences.
- Symbol Insertion Overwrite Option
It’s now possible to choose to overwrite the selected text with an inserted symbol. When this function is not toggled, the inserted symbol will be placed after the selected text. The button to toggle this function can be found in the Quick Symbols group.
- General Application of Styles on Multiple Lines
OnStyle is now capable of applying styles to multiple non-contiguous selected lines of text.
- Improve Convert Style Tool with Flexible Mapping
Thanks to this enhancement, you can now create cascade-like substitution rules in the Convert Style tool. One style can be defined by multiple rules. For example, it’s now possible to change every Heading 1 to Heading 2, while at the same time defining a rule to change every already existing Heading 2 to Heading 3, and so forth.
- Enhanced Insert TOC Tool With Proofing Language Independent Built-In Heading Style Handling
Due to a limitation in Word, changing the localization of the application makes existing TOCs unable to recognize built-in style names. This breaks the TOC, which has direct built-in style name references when updating the table in the secondary localization. For example when a TOC created by Word with English localization is to be updated on another machine with a German localized Word application. OnStyle is now capable of updating all TOCs coming from any localization without producing errors. This can help international teams co-author more seamlessly.
- Enhanced Inspection Results marking with Ignore All/Recognize All
It is now possible to ignore and recognize issues in batches by applying the change to the issue group.
- Updated UI Tooltips With Generated Keyboard Shortcut Inclusion
The UI tooltips now display the keyboard shortcuts mapped to the buttons. This can help to remember and learn the shortcuts without opening the Preferences menu.
- General Cursor Positioning After Create Table/Figure
After inserting a table or a figure using OnStyle, the cursor placement will be automatically chosen depending on the user’s actions. The cursor is placed in the table title field if it was left empty in the table creation dialog. If a title was given, then the cursor is placed in the first cell of the table, or the paragraph after the figure.
- Page Orientation Tool Correction
In previous versions of OnStyle, the page orientation tool broke headings that had the cursor placed in them while launching the tool. The text part following the cursor was moved to the new orientation page, while the text preceding the cursor remained on the original page. OnStyle now places the whole heading text on the new page. Additionally, the section breaks are inserted in default Paragraph style. This prevents empty lines from appearing in the TOC and the Internal Link tool.
New inspection Modules/Correction Modules in OnStyle 3.3

- Nonconforming Terms inspection: This inspection checks for terms that have the wrong format used. The correction module inserts the correct variant of the term. The list of nonconforming terms can be modified by the user in the Preferences.
- Nonbreaking Space Missing: This inspection checks for missing nonbreaking spaces between the numerical value and the unit of measurement within the document. The correction module places the nonbreaking space.
- Unnecessary Whitespace: This inspection checks for spaces unnecessarily used within expressions, for example, placing a space between a number and a percentage symbol (100 %). The correction module removes the unwanted whitespace.
- DocGrid Present: This inspection checks all sections of the document to see if a DocGrid is defined. The DocGrid element is widely used in east-Asian regions to allow the characters to display properly.
- Endnote Present: This inspection checks if endnotes are present in the document.
- Footnote Present: This inspection checks if footnotes are present in the document.
- Page Size not A4: This inspection checks all sections’ layout to see if the page size is set to A4.
- Page Size not Letter: This inspection checks all sections of the document to see if the page size is set to Letter.
- Incorrect Labeling Style Used inspection: This inspection checks if the correct, predetermined style is used for the right USPI document part.
