Editor Ribbon
One of the main areas of OnStyle, in addition to the Checker Module is the Editor Module. Here we provide you with various features to edit your document or create new documents.
The following figure shows a sample OnStyle Editor ribbon:
The OnStyle Editor ribbon is available only for OnStyle documents.
OnStyle’s Editor module has the following feature groups and features:

Styles | Different style buttons | Apply the standard styles of the chosen RuleSet. |
Tools | Breaks | Insert a page- or section break and continue typing on the next page. |
Tools | Insert | Insert a table or figure with standard formatting and captioning. |
Tools | Symbols | Insert symbols that are not on your keyboard. |
Tools | Paste | Advanced paste features for inserting a picture or textual content. |
Tools | Table Styles | Apply a predefined style for the selected table. |
Tools | Hyperlink Tool | Easy-to-use tool for converting the selected text to a hyperlink pointing to a heading in your document. |
Tools | Update Fields | Update all fields in your document with one click. |
Tools | Remove Section Break | Remove the next section break after the cursor position and keep the formatting of the current section. |
Tools | Hide Instruction | Change the visibility of the instruction style texts. Instructions can be hidden only if the ‘Show hidden text’ in MS Word preferences is not turned on. |
Tools | Remove Instructions | Permanently delete all texts written with instruction style. |
Tools | Show / Hide Hidden Text | Show or hide all texts written with hidden fonts. If hidden texts are shown, the ‘Hide instructions’ function is not available. |
Tools | ExtRef | External Reference. Change the color of the selected text to blue and insert brackets around the text. |
Tools | IntRef | Internal Reference. Change the color of the selected text to blue. |
Tools | Subscript/Superscript | Toggle from normal text to subscript (for indexes) and superscript (exponent). |
Tools | Show/Hide All Formatting Symbols/Marks | Show/hide paragraph marks and other hidden formatting symbols. |
Page Setup | Layout | Select a page layout from the available standard layouts and apply it to the current section or to the whole document. |
Page Setup | Orientation | Change the orientation of the selection or insert a new, empty section with changed orientation. |
Tables of Contents | Table of Contents | Insert a TOC to the current cursor position or update existing TOC. Text written with heading styles will be included automatically. The title, format and level of the TOC will be set according to the RuleSet. |
Tables of Contents | List of Tables | Insert a LOT to the current cursor position or update existing LOT. Text written with caption style will be included automatically. The title, format and level of the LOT will be set according to the RuleSet. |
Tables of Contents | List of Figures | Insert a LOF of the selected figure type to the current cursor position or update existing LOF. Text using caption styles will be included automatically. The title, format and level of the LOF will be set according to the RuleSet. |
List | Decrease List Level | Decrease the level of a bulleted or numbered list. |
List | Increase List Level | Increase the level of a bulleted or numbered list. |
List | List Type Selector | Toggle from normal text to bulleted list and numbered list. |
Configuration | New OnStyle Document | Create a new OnStyle document using the RuleSet shown in the selector. |
Configuration | Assign OnStyle RuleSet | Assign OnStyle RuleSet to the active document. |
Configuration | Recall RuleSet | Remove the previously used RuleSet with one click.
