Let’s dive into what you can expect from OnStyle’s latest release.

Framework Changes in OnStyle 3.4

  • Introducing DocConfig Version Numbering

DocConfigs now have visible version numbering. DocConfigs are now displayed with their version number in the DocConfig Selector dropdown, and you can switch among the different variants.

  • Improved Logging Performance

The performance (speed) of the Logging function has been increased.

  • License Activation Enhancements

More information is displayed about the license in the About dialog. Newly displayed information are activation start time, activation name, activation email, activation hostname.

  • New Option For License Deactivation

The user can deactivate the license in the About dialog.

New or Enhanced Authoring Features in OnStyle 3.4

  • Format Table To ‘Keep With Next’

A new tool has been added that applies the Keep with Next setting to the selected table’s all rows. If multiple tables or the whole document is selected, then the setting is applied to all table rows in the selection.

  • SVG Image Preview For Create Figure

The Create Figure tool can now display previews for SVG files, which are less popular than JPEG and PNG but increasingly frequently appear in pharmaceutical or scientific documents.

New Validation Feature

  • Docconfig-Specific Inspection Sets

Now, each DocConfig can have its own unique Validation settings. Custom Inspection Groups or Inspection Sets can be predefined, ensuring they remain exclusive to that specific DocConfig. These customizations do not carry over when switching to a different configuration, providing precise control and flexibility for each setup.

New Inspection Modules in OnStyle 3.4

  • Cross-Reference Formatting Issue

This module checks the formatting of cross-references and reports if the formatting is not in compliance with the specified rules in the DocConfig.

  • Inconsistent Page Layout

The module verifies the document’s page layout settings, and if there are multiple page layouts in use, it reports them as an issue.

  • Incorrect Caption Field Code

The module checks all table and figure captions. If there is a field code in the captions that does not match any of the allowed caption field codes, reports an issue.

  • Missing Caption Field Code

The module checks all captions, and reports an issue if the caption does not contain any field code.

  • Table Split Across Pages

This module finds tables in the document that are split into different pages.

  • Text Box Present

The module locates and reports all textboxes within the document. The issue text in the inspection result window contains the textual content of the respective textbox.

New Correction Module in OnStyle 3.4

  • Fix Caption correction

This fix module can correct multiple caption-related inspections by asking the user to select among the standard caption formats and transform the wrong caption into a proper format.
