Check

This check finds and lists the unused bookmarks in your document.

A bookmark is called unused, when there is no reference to it in the document. Some Word functions can create a large number of unused bookmarks which are not visible for the user. (e.g. when you delete a table of content).

Fix

You can see the number of unused bookmarks in the ‘Check Result’ Window. You can remove the unused bookmarks by right clicking the entry in the ‘Check Result’ window and selecting ‘Remove all’.

The large number of unused bookmarks can cause performance issues or crashes during the PDF generation.
